Fody products are like any other packaged product on the market! Once opened, how long a product may be used depends on the individual product. As long as you are within the Best By date range, the following is our general recommendation on usage:
Salsas and Pastas Sauces - up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator after opening.
BBQ Sauce and Marinades - up to 2 months in the refrigerator after opening.
Dressings, Ketchup, Seasonings, Snack Bars, Soup Bases and Olive Oils - up until their best before date, store in a cool dark place ideally, like the pantry.
Garlic and Shallots contain fructans (oligosaccharides), making them high in FODMAPs. These fructans are water-soluble, and would therefore leech out into a water-based substance such as a soup broth. Since water and oil don’t mix, these fructans will not leech out in oil. Therefore, it’s safe to infuse the essence of garlic or shallots into our oil, and offer the flavour for you to enjoy - with none of the symptoms.
Foods can contain ingredients that by themselves might be high in FODMAPs, but if included in small amounts, the final product stays within safe FODMAP limits. We ensure all of our products are Low FODMAP by limiting the amounts of the ingredients allowable per serving size.

We answer common questions about FODMAP foods and IBS in the sections below. What are FODMAPs? What foods contain FODMAPS? What is a FODMAPS diet?
First and foremost, please see your Licensed Health Practitioner for a definite diagnosis of IBS. It is very important to rule out other serious conditions that may share symptoms with IBS. If you have IBS and need guidance on IBS foods to avoid, please seek out the help of a registered dietitian.
The Low FODMAP diet is a rigorously studied dietary treatment to relieve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). For more information about the Low FODMAP diet, who it is for, how it works, and help getting started, visit our FODMAPs 101 page.
FODMAPs are a group of dietary sugars that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. FODMAPs can trigger digestive issues including gas, bloating, distension, abdominal discomfort, pain, diarrhea and/or constipation by some people, especially those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). FODMAP stands for: Fermentable Oligosaccharides Disaccharides Monosaccharides And Polyols.
There are 5 types of FODMAPs that exist in the food we eat. They are: fructose, lactose, fructans, galacto-oligosaccharides and sugar alcohols. Food can contain one or more types of FODMAPs. FODMAPs are found in many foods: from various fruits and vegetables, to milk and wheat. It can be confusing to identify FODMAP foods, and you may find many different contradicting opinions and low FODMAP food charts out there. For more information on high and low FODMAP foods, see our FODMAPs 101 page. Also, check out our High and Low FODMAP Food Charts.
Yes, but the “safe” Low FODMAP serving size is different for every food. As the diet is quantity based, please check the serving sizes on the label of each Fody product. A strict Low FODMAP diet should not be commenced without supervision from a healthcare professional.
No, there is a re-introduction phase where you will determine which higher FODMAP foods can be tolerated by your body. Please discuss re-introduction with your dietitian. Learn more about the three stages of the diet on our FODMAPs 101 page. For more information, check out our detailed list of FODMAP FAQ's above.
