Foods to Eat with IBS

IBS is lot like a horror movie monster: its attacks are unexpected and often occur at the most inopportune times…and in both cases, people tend to lose their lunches.

Luckily, there are a wide range of low FODMAP foods to eat with IBS that’ll keep the monster from returning!

High FODMAP Food List

Different people are susceptible to different FODMAPS. Some people go gaga for galactans, while others go gaga from them, and so on.

But in general, these are high FODMAP foods everyone who values their stomach lining should steer clear of:

  • Garlic: One of the worst foods to eat with IBS, if you’re afraid of triggering IBS symptoms, we’re afraid you’re going to have to go full vampire and shrink away from any food that contains garlic or garlic derivatives.
  • Onions: Sorry Shrek fans, onions are bad foods to eat with IBS in any form, including variants like pickled onions and shallots. It’s enough to make you want to run back to the swamp.
  • Refined Wheats (Bread, Cereal, etc.): Wheat products including cereal, noodles, pastries, flour and most kind of breads are mean foods to eat with IBS, and also sadly the hardest to avoid–Wait, don’t give up on a low FODMAP diet just yet! There are wheat-free alternatives to almost all of these, just pay attention to ingredient lists.

Whew, intimidated yet? As difficult as these foods are to avoid, you owe your tummy some time with delicious foods that don’t cause indigestion…or you know, worse.

Low FODMAP Foods to Eat with IBS
