Fody's Low FODMAP Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce with Sausage & Broccolini
Description of Fody's Low FODMAP Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce with Sausage & Broccolini
Fody's low FODMAP pasta sauces are a great way to get dinner on the table fast. The spicy, flavorful low FODMAP Arrabbiata Sauce can be used straight out of the jar, but with a little tweaking you can create a truly hearty low FODMAP recipe with sausage and broccolini - and you can make this sauce in the time it takes the water to boil for the pasta.
When shopping for sausages, watch out for high FODMAP ingredients such as onion and/or garlic. When I first started the diet, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to find low FODMAP sausage! If you like things very spicy, get hot Italian sausage; if not, opt for sweet Italian sausage.
Broccolini, by the way, is low FODMAP in servings of 45 g per serving, so the recipe is well within these limits if you follow our recommended serving size.
PS: You might be familiar with sausage and rapini (broccoli rabe) pasta sauces, but as of this writing rapini has not been lab-tested for FODMAPs, we chose to use broccolini.
Fody Low FODMAP Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce with Sausage & Broccolini Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Fody Low FODMAP Garlic-Infused Olive Oil
- ½ pound (225 g) sweet or hot low FODMAP Italian sausage
- 4-ounces (115 g) trimmed broccolini, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1, 19.4 ounce (550 g) jar Fody Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 12-ounces (340 g) low FODMAP gluten-free pasta, such as fusilli or penne
Cooking Directions for Fody's Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce with Sausage & Broccolini
Bring a large pot of salted water to boil.
Meanwhile, heat the Fody Low FODMAP Garlic-Infused Olive Oil in a large non-reactive skillet over medium heat. Slip the sausage out of its casing, add to pan, breaking up with spatula as you go. Sauté until sausage is no longer pink; remove from pan and set aside.
In the same pan, with the olive oil and sausage juices, add the broccolini and sauté over low-medium heat until the broccolini turns bright green and is crisp-tender, about 2 minutes. Add the sausage back to the pan and add the Fody Low FODMAP Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce, stirring everything together well. Cover and simmer over low heat while you cook the pasta. Taste the sauce before serving and season as desired with salt and pepper.
When pasta is done, simply drain and serve with sauce. The Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce with Sausage & Broccolini may also be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
