Fody’s Grilled Chicken Burgers with Chipotle Ketchup
If your weeknight meal rotation has gotten dull, it’s time for some new gut-friendly burger night ideas! These delicious and flavorful Grilled Chicken Burgers are dressed up with zesty Chipotle Ketchup made with Fody’s Unsweetened Ketchup. This easy, protein-rich meal is a perfect gut-friendly barbecue recipe for warm weather grilling, but you can also make it indoors on the stovetop. Serve this bloat-free recipe with a side of potato wedges or a fresh side salad for a completely delicious, easy-to-digest meal.
Ingredients for Fody’s Grilled Chicken Burgers with Chipotle Ketchup
For the Chicken Burger Patties
- 1 lb ground chicken, dark meat
- ½ cup scallions, chopped, green parts only
- 1 jalapeño, diced seeds removed for less heat if desired
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp almond flour (can sub gluten free 1:1 flour if desired)
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp Mexican oregano
- ¼ tsp black pepper
For the Chipotle Ketchup
- ½ cup Fody’s Unsweetened Ketchup
- 1 whole chipotle pepper
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp Mexican oregano
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp ground cumin
- ⅛ tsp cinnamon
For Serving your grilled chicken burgers
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- ½ avocado, optional, ⅛ for each serving
- 4 gluten free burger buns
Directions for Fody’s Grilled Chicken Burgers with Chipotle Ketchup
- To get started on your homemade grilled chicken burgers, Fody’s Unsweetened Ketchup and all chipotle ketchup ingredients to a blender, pulsing to mix until smooth. Spoon out into a small bowl and set aside.
- Pre-heat the grill or a cast iron skillet over medium high heat.
- Add ground chicken, scallions, diced jalapeño, almond flour and spices to a large bowl. Mix together to combine using your hands or a large spoon.
- Add the shredded cheese and continue to mix to distribute evenly throughout.
- Divide the chicken mixture into 4 ¼ lb patties that are about ½” thick.
- Once the grill or skillet is hot, cook the burgers for about 6 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165F.
- Once your grilled chicken burgers are cooked through, remove from the heat and serve on lightly toasted gluten free buns. Top with shredded lettuce, chipotle ketchup and avocado slices if desired.
