Bursting with deliciously bold flavors like ginger + red pepper, this tasty twist on a classic green bean side dish gets a major upgrade with the addition of Fody's Sesame Ginger Marinade + Shallot-Infused Oil. Serve it as an easy weeknight vegetable side dish or enjoy as part of your festive holiday meal.
Fody's Sesame Ginger Green Beans Ingredients:
- 2.5 lbs green beans, washed + trimmed
- 2 tbsp Fody's Shallot-Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil, plus 1 tbsp more for cooking
- ¼ cup Fody's Sesame Ginger Marinade
- 2 tbsp fresh minced ginger
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ¼ cup slivered almonds
Directions for Fody's Sesame Ginger Green Beans
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. While water is boiling, fill a large mixing bowl with cold water + ice.
Once water is boiling, add green beans to the pot and boil for about 4-5 minutes. You want the beans to maintain a bit of their crunch, so be sure to check them around the 4 minute mark. Once they’re tender yet still crisp, remove them from the boiling water and immediately add to the ice water bath. This helps stop the cooking process + keeps them crunchy.
After about a minute or two, strain the beans from the ice bath and transfer back to a mixing bowl. Add shallot oil, sesame ginger sauce, 1 tbsp of the minced ginger, salt + pepper and toss to fully coat the beans.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add about 1 tbsp of shallot oil to the bottom of the pan. Once oil is shimmering, add green bean mixture and cook until ginger is fragrant + soft and beans are heated through.
Remove from pan + add to a serving dish. Top with red pepper flakes, slivered almonds and remaining tbsp of minced fresh ginger + serve. You're now ready to enjoy your low-FODMAP sesame ginger green beans!
