Description of Fody's Low FODMAP Steak Tacos
Ready for a Tex Mex fiesta, with the main protein made in one pan? Need a dish that is quick enough for a weeknight? These Low FODMAP Steak Tacos fit the bill.
The steak marinates in Fody Low FODMAP Taco Sauce and Fody Low FODMAP Taco Seasoning while the oven preheats, and you will also have time to prep the add-ons, all of which you will be stuffing into soft or hard-shelled corn tortillas.
Presenting the add-ons separately allows everyone at the table to customize their own tacos.
This recipe can be used as a learning lesson. Use your Monash app to familiarize yourself with low FODMAP serving sizes of salsa, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. If you just add a little of each to every taco you will be fine, but it is good to know this information for this low FODMAP recipe as you navigate your low FODMAP diet throughout the day, at restaurants, etc.
Fody's Low FODMAP Steak Tacos Ingredients
- 1-pound (455 g) sirloin tip or flat iron steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ¼ cup (60 ml) Fody Taco Sauce
- ¼ teaspoon Fody Taco Seasoning
- 8 soft (about 6-inch/15 cm) or hard-shelled corn tortillas
- 2 cups (150 g) shredded crisp lettuce, such as Romaine or Iceberg
- 3 medium beefsteak tomatoes, cored and diced
- 2-ounces (55 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 2-ounces (55 g) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Directions for Fody's Low FODMAP Steak Tacos
Position racks in top of oven and bottom third. Preheat oven to 400F (200C). Scatter the meat on the pan, drizzle the Fody Taco Sauce and Fody Taco Seasoning on top, then use your hands or tongs to mix everything together well.
Wrap up the tortillas in aluminum foil.
Place the meat on the top rack and the tortillas on the lower rack. Roast in the oven until the meat is cooked, but a tad pink in the center, or to your preferred doneness level, about 10 minutes. Remove meat and tortillas from the oven.
Prep your toppings while meat and tortillas are in the oven.
Divide steak amongst corn tortillas and serve with all of your toppings set out in individual bowls for diners to customize their Low FODMAP Steak Tacos.
